Held the 30th anniversary of the Burmese Women’s Union (BWU) and the 10th anniversary of Honest Information

On January 7, 2025, a celebration was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, for the 30th anniversary of the Burmese Women’s Union (BWU) and the 10th anniversary of Honest Information.

During the event, the members of the BWU presented performances including the revolutionary “Than Chat” and “Cholinn Pya Thabin” as part of a special program, along with singing revolutionary songs.

The 30th anniversary of the formation of the Burmese Women’s Union (BWU) coincided with the 10th anniversary of Honest Information (HI), a media outlet focused on gender equality and social justice.

The BWU was founded on January 7, 1995, led by courageous indigenous women who took refuge after the 1988 public uprising. The organization was established with the aim of fighting against military dictatorship, advocating for democracy and human rights, promoting genuine national reconciliation, and advancing women’s rights and gender equality.

Looking forward to the next 30 years, the BWU states its commitment to continue striving towards building a humane community with gender equality.
